Back into that face ... I can't believe how difficult it is to get what I want. It's in the foreground, in shadow, needs to be in a style that fits the rest of the painting. To avoid it for a while, I start by repainting the whole background wall .. the colors had been shifting a little and it needed unifying. Eventually, I got somewhere with the face before having to leave.
